Founded in 1978, the driving force behind Eastman Companies’ start-up operations and its emergence as a leading full-service commercial real estate company was its founder, Marvin Schofel. A consummate professional, the industry veteran had a distinct vision of what his company could achieve as well as the creative capacity to build on his faith. With the passage of time, second-generation siblings Michael and Peter Schofel assumed the company’s reins, guiding it to its present stature as one of the most prominent mid-sized commercial, community-oriented real estate organizations in The Garden State. The brothers benefited from hard work and dedication, as well as hands-on experience on the front lines over the course of many years in the industry. As a result, they proved to be more than ready to seamlessly continue the work that Marvin Schofel had begun.

Since its earliest beginnings, the Eastman name has been synonymous with quality development, professional and supportive management operations, an unrelenting effort to enhance and improve its various commercial holdings and enduring involvement in fundraising on behalf of local philanthropic organizations and cultural causes. While real estate is a major factor in the Eastman Companies equation, the company remains true to its roots within the community by devoting time and financial resources to local outreach and cultural groups.

Today, the company is comprised of Eastman Management Corp. and Eastman Construction Corp., the company presently owns, manages or has developed more than 8 million square feet of commercial, retail and/or industrial properties throughout the Tri-State Area.

Additionally, Eastman has recently engaged in the redevelopment of several unique projects, including 83 Hanover Road, recently renamed Florham Park Medical Center, and The Eisenhower, Eastman’s flagship building located at the Route 10 Circle in Livingston.

Thanks to the leadership of Michael and Peter Schofel and an experienced Executive Management Team lead by Eric Maurer, Director of Leasing, Eastman Companies has earned the highest accolades within the real estate, business and construction industries. Honors include being named Livingston Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year; NAIOP’s Developer of the Year; and a two-time BOMA TOBY Award Building of the Year in New Jersey recipient for Eisenhower Corporate Campus, the 380,000-square-foot, Class-A office center in Livingston, and 83 Hanover Road, the 55,000-square-foot office building in Hanover.
